If you are having problems with Beating the blues, please make sure to first check your system meets the minimum requirements.

Computer Requirements

  1. Operating System: Windows 2000, XP or Vista
  2. Processor: 750 MHz
  3. Memory: 256MB RAM
  4. Software: Please bare in mind that you will need administrator permision to install these programs if they are not already on the computer.
    • Internet Explorer 6.0 and above or Firefox 1.5 and above
    • Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.115 and above

To check these, right click on my computer and select "Properties" the screen will then provide this information.

Connection Requirements

  1. Internet connection Speed: 512kbps

You will not always get the speed that your supplier claims to provide you with, if you share your connection with other computers (working on a network) it’s worth checking the speed you actually get on your machine.

To do this, go to www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk then click on "Begin" The site will take about 30 seconds to complete the test and will provide a download speed and an upload speed. The minimum you need to achieve is:

  1. Download: 512kbps
  2. Upload: 100kbps

Beating the Blues is running slowly

If each page loads slowly, it’s likely your machine isn’t up to the minimum requirements, please check your computer meets the minimum requirements. If the videos load slowly and are jumpy, this is probably due to your internet connection not being fast enough.

Please check your internet connection speed. If you continue to have problems, please contact your Beating the Blues Provider.

The Session will not start

The Beating the Blues Sessions use Flash technology, to provide the content you see on the screen. This is the same technology used by sites like www.youtube.com.

To download Adobe Flash Player please go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

If you are using Beating the Blues at Work, it’s possible that your IT team have blocked sites like YouTube as their use is rarely work related.

Please go to www.youtube.com and try to watch a video, if you are unable to do so, you’ll need to ask your IT department to allow the use of flash videos from Beating the Blues.

I am unable to view the videos

If you are unable to view the videos at all: The Beating the Blues videos use Flash technology, to provide the content you see on the screen. This is the same technology used by sites like www.youtube.com.

My Account has been locked

After 3 unsuccessful attempts to login to your account, it will be temporarily locked for 60 seconds. This is to prevent malicious software from trying to access your account without your permission. If you are unable to gain access or use the password reminder, please contact your Beating the Blues provider.

I’ve forgotten my username and/or password, what should I do.

Remember usernames and passwords are case sensitive, so you must type them in exactly. When you registered with Beating the Blues, you will have been emailed your username and password, if you can find this email, it will give you the information you need to login.

Remember that each time you change your password you’ll be sent a new email, so look for the latest ones. If you can’t find the emails try using the password reminder function, where you will be asked to answer a secret question that you set up when you registered.

If you can answer it correctly (remember the answer is case sensitive) then you’ll be emailed your username and password. Finally if you are still unable to login, please contact your Beating the Blues provider who can reset the password for you and the system will automatically email you your username and new password.

The system says my username is already in use.

Beating the Blues is used by lots of people, the piece of info that allows the system to identify you is your username, this therefore has to be unique. If the username you have chosen has been chosen by someone else, please choose another.
